I took a few days off this weekend after
going away to Mackinaw City and the Island itself over the weekend. I went with
friends and it was a freaking blast to say the least! I will however, need to
write more about that later as right now I am so giddy that I was nominated by
the lovely Selma over at Meteo Beauty blog for a Liebster Award!! It was definitely
quite the exciting treat to discover upon my return to the online world! Thank
you so much Selma for the nomination! Now of course, I’m going to have to copy
the following information on what the award is from Selma’s blog, before I get
to my answers and nominations!
So… What
is the Liebster Award?
The word Liebster is German and it literally
means “dearest” or “favorite”. Other meanings include sweetest, kindest,
nicest, beloved, lovely, kinda, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing and welcome.
The award recognizes new and upcoming bloggers with less than 200 follwers (or
friends) who deserve recognition and support for their contribution in the
blogosphere. In order to accept this prestigious award, one must abide by the
list of rules.
The
Rules:
01) Each person must
list 11 things about themselves.
02) Answer the 11
questions that the tagger has set for you PLUS you MUST create 11 questions of
your own for the 11 people you will nominate with this award.
03) Choose up to 11
bloggers linking them to your post.
04) Go to their page and
inform them of the nomination.
05) Absolutely NO tags
back. Remember to ONLY tag bloggers with less than 200 followers.
Alright, with that here goes with the first
step. Eleven random things about me!
01 – I have a serious
love for coffee!
02 – I stand five feet
and eight inches tall.
03 – My favorite
television show is I Love Lucy!
04 – I was born and
raised here in Michigan!
05 – I love horror
movies!
06 – My favorite tree
has always been the Willow.
07 – I love to read, but
tend to read slowly due to time.
08 – I have a
subscription to Marie Claire magazine.
09 – I will forever love
and appreciate the Spice Girls! LOL!
10 – My absolute
favorite season is autumn!
11 – I have a tendency
to nickname my closest friends.
Okay now onto the next step! The eleven questions
Selma has selected for me to answer.
What
do you like to blog about the most?
I have to say that it’s really hard to pick
one topic. I love writing in general, so it’s a matter of equally enjoying
sharing tidbits out of my personal life, as much as some of my work. I think I
tend to share more of my personal life as of lately, especially as I divulge a
bit more into some real deep matters such as depression and anxiety. They are
not the easiest for me to even touch on, but they are worth it if it means I can
possibly help relate to even just one person who may stumble across my blog!
Least
favorite blogging topic out there?
Alright, this is the answer that may
potentially get me into some trouble. Cancer. I have had three very close
people to me get diagnosed with three different types of cancer. One of my
older brothers is a melanoma survivor. I have an aunt who had uterine cancer
and a best friend who was diagnosed with ovarian. Cancer also runs pretty
heavily in my family. Both my father’s parents were survivors and my mom’s
biological mother (whom I never met) died of breast cancer. I always, always want
to be in support to those out there who battle it. I just have my days were
even the word cancer makes me want to break down and cry. Maybe given I haven’t
been diagnosed with it myself, I should be this way, but it’s always been a
very touchy topic for me since my brother received his diagnoses in the first
place.
What
mobile phone do you use?
Are we going service provider or brand of
phone? LOL! I confess I’m not really cell phone friendly. Maybe that’s unusual
for a girl my age, but I’m just generally not very phone friendly. LOL! I was
able to get a track-phone though (or what some people refer to as the Obama
Phone). It was free and while it goes on only so many minutes a month, I got it
mostly for emergency use. So it’s the only mobile phone I need.
Do you
own a camera? If so which one?
I do!! I love digital photography. I love
film too, but sadly I don’t have a film camera or the knowledge to properly
develop film (yet). Currently I have a Kodak Easy-Share. It’s fantastic! The best
camera I have had to date. I use it all the time, especially recently on my
getaway this past weekend. LOL!
Favorite
footwear?
I may be five foot eight, but I do love a
good pair of wedges! I’m not afraid to add to my height, LOL! I haven’t been able
to wear my wedges for a while now, given my ankle problems. Unfortunately I
have been pretty much stuck to flip flops because of that.
What
is your favorite movie?
The Rocky Horror Picture Show!!! I was like
thirteen when I first saw it and have been a huge fan ever since. I’ve promised
myself to someday attend one of the live show gatherings. Oh yes – that does
include having the desire and interest for dressing up and partaking. LOL!
What perfume
do you currently use?
Presently I have five different perfumes on
hand! I have to say though I tend to use my Women’s Degree ‘Delicious Bliss’
body mist the most. It’s not too strong and it’s great for everyday casual
wear. For a fancier day, I do love to put on a little ‘Fancy Love’ by Jessica
Simpson. It’s my favorite thus far! LOL!
Have
you ever had a negative experience while blogging? If so please do explain.
I really can’t recall having a negative
experience in the year I’ve been a blogger. Pretty much all the criticisms I
have received, that were outright positive thus far have actually been really
constructive.
What
country would you like to visit?
I’ve always joked that being from Michigan,
my first ‘foreign’ country experience would be up to Canada. Now while I would
actually love to see Canada - Ireland, England, Germany and Scotland have
always been on the top of my list for countries to visit. I would also really
like to see Russia someday as well. Although I confess, my perks of interest
have come from seeing that the second country I’ve received the most views from
thus far to my blog have been from Russia! LOL!
Do you
have a pet?
Sadly I do not currently have a pet. Someday
I will have a pet again, more specifically my dream dog (as it were). A Giant
Schnauzer! I grew up with miniature schnauzers, but have always wanted a big
dog. I think the giant ones are super cute! Plus I have an allergy with animal
fur, so that makes Giant Schnauzers all the more perfect for being my dream dog
– given they are non-allergetic.
What
is your zodiac sign?
Scorpio!!! My birthday is November 12th!
Now to add onto this answer, I’ll also include that my Chinese zodiac is the
Rat. No, I’m not part Chinese or anything – just always found that fascinating.
Alright, hopefully you’re still with me
here, because now it’s time to give you my nomination list! I definitely
recommend checking out these blogs! Now this is really hard, because there are
so many blogs out there that I would love to nominate. Unfortunately (or well
more fortunately for them really) they have more than 200 followers/friends and
therefore I can’t for this specific award.
Now for the eleven questions I would love to
see these great bloggers answer!
01: What is your
favorite scent?
02: What is your
favorite season?
03: Where is your
favorite vacation spot?
04: Who is your
favorite band/artist?
05: What is your
earliest memory?
06: When did you start
blogging?
07: What is your favorite
T.V. show?
08: What genre do you
enjoy reading?
09: Would you ever (or
do you) run more than one blog?
10: What is your
favorite animal? Why?
11: What are you most
thankful for in life?
Ooooo! How fun!!!! Thanks, Jane. ;) I loved reading all of your answers and will try to get mine done quickly.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely look forward to reading all of your answers!!! :D
DeleteAww thanks so much! I'm away from home for a few days but hopefully I can do this someday soon.
ReplyDeleteI'll probably always love and appreciate the Spice Girls as well. They were just too big of a part of my childhood.
You’re so welcome! I look forward to reading yours whenever you get a chance to do it! :D
DeleteA fellow SG fan! All the more reason to have nominated you for this! ;) I admit I was mildly obsessed with them when I was younger. LOL! They were such a positive influence on my life.
You always amaze me Baby Girl. Congratulations!!! Hugs & Kisses oxoxox Mommy
ReplyDeleteAwes! Thank you mommy!! I love you!
DeleteCongratulations on the nomination!! I'm so proud of you! One thing quick though...umm mildly obsessed with the spice girls? Hmm I don't rember the mildly part lol love you!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I can pretend it was only mildly! LOL! ;)
DeleteThanks so much Jane for choosing my blog. I am looking forward to answer your questions and sharing it to the other bloggers as well.
ReplyDeleteYou are so very welcome Sarah! I am definitely looking forward to reading your answers to the questions as well! :D
DeleteAw, thanks so much for the award! (I'm drinking my coffee as I read your post...very appropriate, don't you think?) I can understand your feelings reading about cancer. Did you know my blog was originally a "cancer blog"? I'm a breast cancer survivor and my mom died from breast cancer, so I've written about it a lot. I've also gotten very burned out on writing and reading about cancer! So don't explore my blog too much in depth! ;)
ReplyDeleteJust a warning, I'm terrible about following up on award posts...but I love your questions! :)
Yes I am very aware that you are a cancer survivor! I have enjoyed every blog post of yours I have read. Yes, I confess it gets a little hard with
DeleteYou are so very welcome! (Yes that is extremely appropriate! LOL!) I did not know that your blog was originally a cancer blog, but I was aware that you are a cancer survivor. I have truly enjoyed all blog posts of yours I’ve read, but thank you for the heads up on not necessarily digging to the beginning of your blog’s days! Also thank you for understanding why it’s a touchy topic for me.
Fair warning indeed, this is the first I ever was included in – let alone took part in, so I’m glad you at least love the questions! :D
Thank you so much! I'm honored! :)
ReplyDeleteI love willow trees, too. I've been wanting to plant one on our property - I'd love to be able to hide beneath it with the kids in the summer!
Had to laugh at the Rocky Horror Picture Show one - my sister was a big fan of it and I finally saw it at a live show in college. It really was a lot of fun; you should definitely do it!
You are so welcome!! :D
DeleteI’ve already dreamed someday I would own a house with a willow tree on the property! That sounds like it would be a picture perfect moment. I swear these trees are just so inviting to relax under with a good book on a nice day.
LOL! I’m glad that one amused you and oh yes, I definitely plan to do it someday!! :D
